Transfer of Beneficially Held Shares

The Ely Trust is managed by its trustee; the Ely Bauxite Mine Beneficiaries Corporation Pty Ltd. That company has 13 shareholders; one for each of the communities of Mapoon, New Mapoon and Napranum, and 10 for traditional owner groups.

Each shareholder holds their share on trust. In the case of the 3 community shares, the shareholders hold those shares on behalf of their community. In the case of the other 10 shares, they are held for the benefit of the traditional owner groups who appointed them.
