Business and Economic Development

The Business Development Fund (BDF) is established for the purpose of assisting members of the Aboriginal Community who are beneficiaries of the Ely Trust to establish and develop business opportunities that will provide ongoing benefits and opportunities to the Aboriginal Community. Grants from the Business Development Fund are limited to projects and business for sustainable development and not for the individual consumption of the Trust Beneficiaries.

The following funding is available:

– Business plan development

– Business capital injection – Micro =< $10,000

– Business capital injection – Large => $10,001

New Application Process:

All BDF applicants will be required to meet with the Business Foundations Advisor at the start of the application process. Please refer to process overview below.

Expression of Interest (EOI) to Business Foundations.
Initial meeting with the Business Foundations Advisor.
Enterprise Suitability Assessment (ESA) – this assessment will be conducted by the Business Foundations Advisor.
Pathway Decision.
Business Plan development (if applicable). Please note that beneficiaries can engage with an alternative consultant of their choice for the development of a business plan.
Formal Application to Ely Trust (note timelines below).
Ely Trust Board review of application.
Notification of Board decision, and if approval, funding agreement and payment directly to suppliers.
Ongong support and reporting provided by Business Foundations.

All applications must be submitted at least 21 days before a Ely Trust board meeting, and application forms should be sent via email to elygrants@elytrust.com.au.

It is at the Board’s discretion whether an application will receive funding.
